Report: Terron Armstead has partial tear of pectoral but not season

Jan 10, 2024

The Dolphins won't have left tackle Terron Armstead for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but they do expect him to return this season.

Armstead has a Grade 2 pectoral strain, which is a partial tear, NFL Network reports.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel expressed confidence that Armstead will play again this season based on current information. But the Dolphins still are uncertain about how much time Armstead will miss, which will determine whether the Pro Bowler lands on injured reserve.

"I definitely wouldn't put that past him [to return in 2-3 weeks]," McDaniel said, via video from the team. "But we are gathering information, seeking all specialists and kind of letting the injury settle a hair, so the information can be a little more concrete and a little clearer. We’re evaluating some options with him in terms of how to treat it and stuff.

"But you know how I feel about Terron. He's the consummate pro, so I’d be really foolish to go ahead and stamp an exact timeline because you just never know. It might be right around the corner."

I think even a novice knew at the time of that signing that the Dolphins were giving way too much money to a chronically injured player. At some point, past is prologue and you have to recognize that.

Kind of a bummer. Can't believe that your left tackle goes out and instantly the o-line looks like it's never played before. I will admit they lost both tackles so in a matter of less than 15 minutes what was working fairly well turned into a sieve. Bad timing going into the 49ers next week. But at least they can practice with the o-line as it should be for that game.

Saints medical staff may have amazingly gotten one thing right if they advised management to let him go because of this being likely to become a recurring problem. Maybe bucs could be convinced to take Andrus Pete next. Please.

Grier needs to be calling Eric Fisher or Daryl Williams – BOTH are available & can play any position on that lousy Miami OL!

This guy has never played a full season. And even with him at full health the Dolphins will not beat the 49ers.

Death, taxes, Armstead injured.

Dolphin fans knew this was a possibility going into the deal with Armstead due to his injury history. If we got half a season with him it was worth it, we discovered what Tua can do with a good line.

Get well soon, Terron.

Not good news when you are about to face Bosa and company. The 49ers defensive line unit is coming for tiny Tua.

People act like the 49ers are preseason Bills all Of a sudden. We will gave a quick release game plan and have to adjust our max orotect oersonnel.

And the Niners have beat WHO??

"I think even a novice knew at the time of that signing that the Dolphins were giving way too much money to a chronically injured player."

His contract actually wasnt that high, many were actually surprised. They took his injury issues into consideration already. We all knew hed miss a few games at least . Without him this line would have been dogcrap all season. He was worth the cash
