NFL Week 5 Anytime Touchdown Bets: A.J. Brown, Chris Olave and more

Dec 26, 2023

• Bet Eagles WR A.J. Brown anytime TD (+110) at Cardinals: Arizona's CB corps all graded below 61.5 by PFF and won't match up well against Brown.

• Bet Saints WR Chris Olave anytime TD (+150) vs. Seahawks: Saints' rook will be targeted early and often vs. sieve Seahawks CB Michael Jackson (47.5 PFF coverage grade).

Week 5 of the NFL season is in full swing, and, well, there almost assuredly will be more touchdowns scored in any game this weekend than in "Thursday Night Football." The Indianapolis Colts beat the Denver Broncos in overtime, 12-9, in the first-ever NFL game with seven combined field goals accounting for all of the scoring, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Anyway, here are the best Anytime Touchdown bets to make this weekend.

• The No. 1 Guy: With fellow wide receiver Michael Thomas likely to sit out with a toe injury, rookie Chris Olave slots in as the No. 1 option against a Seahawks defense that allows 274 passing yards per game. The Saints could also start Andy Dalton at quarterback again. Still, even with him under center, Olave scored in Week 4 against the Vikings. He’ll match up plenty against Seahawks cornerback Michael Jackson, who has only a 47.5 coverage grade this season. Look for Olave to get targeted early and often in this one.

• The Changing of the Guard: Dolphins running back Chase Edmonds has been ineffective to start his Dolphins career, never clearing more than 33 rushing yards in a single game. In Week 4, Mostert had 17 touches compared to just seven from Edmonds. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out, the team will turn to backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater is a fine passer, but they could lean more on the run game here, as the Jets allow nearly 110 yards per game. Mostert didn't score despite 17 touches last week, but the Dolphins were trailing. Expect the Dolphins to lead in this one, creating a positive game script for the new starting running back.

• Welcome to the NFL, Kenny Pickett: In relief of Mitchell Trubisky last week, Pickett threw three interceptions. PFF didn't count any of them as turnover-worthy plays, but whether they’re his fault or not, a Bills defense with seven interceptions including three pick-sixes is primed and ready to go against the rookie signal caller in his first-ever NFL start. The Steelers don't have a great running game to lean on, so at +650, we can't pass this up.

• The Matchup Is Fantastic: Going against the Cardinals, Brown will face a cast of cornerbacks that simply don't stand a chance against him. Whether he lines up against Byron Murphy, Marco Wilson, or Trayvon Mullen, all have coverage grades of 61.4 or lower (Wilson is at 45.0). Murphy has allowed two touchdowns this season. The Eagles have a great tight end in Dallas Goedert and fellow wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Both players should help Brown see plenty of one-on-one matchups that he easily can win.

• Something's Gotta Give: With rookie receiver Treylon Burks out with turf toe, veteran receiver Robert Woods is the unquestioned No. 1 option in Tennessee. Last week, Woods finally caught a touchdown. He also saw four targets. The Commanders allow nearly 260 passing yards per game, and both starting cornerbacks—William Jackson III and Kendall Fuller—have each allowed two touchdowns. Fuller has allowed 328 receiving yards this season and Jackson III, while better, is still at 199. If Woods can't get it done here, he can't get it done anywhere.
